Default The Syrian turmoil and the weapons used - main thread

I have come up to a conclusion my little knowledge in weapons can't overcome all of the weapons used. In Syria there's a proxy war that lasts for more than 4 years. In this war ( which most people refer to as the 'Civil War' ) we find great use of weapons, from the common AK-47 up to MLRS and other artillery ordnance.

I will upload from time to time videos showing weapons used in battles across Syria. Sometimes it will come with a query, like this post, and sometimes with my humble explanation.

This time- The Aleppo based Rebel group named " Nour Adin aZenky"after the former Seljuk leader of Aleppo - meaning "The Light of The Religion, son of Zenky". Nour Adin was a Seljuk leader at the 12th century who vowed to take down the Crusaders who started to invade the Middle East. He was one of the first Muslim leaders to stand against the crusaders and even managed to defeat Baldwin, King of Jerusalem. Saladin once mentioned him as someone who inspired him. The rebels were inspired as well and vowed to take Assad and his proxy allies too.

The weapon used there is a 12.78 mm Caliber ( Half Inch ) but I don't think it's a browning M2 ( even though the body looks similar) and not the a Russian similar like the Dushka.

I believe the machine gun in the video is a Chinese made W-85 which fires the 12.7 x 107mm Soviet cartridge

This time I will bring the humble use the same faction use in the Province of Haleb and Idlib in north Syria. The improvised use of 120mm and 81mm mortar is wide by these groups. As you can see the 120mm mortar needs more weight on it for it not to be too loose.

This movie shows how the Syrian Rebel roof group named "Jaish Al Fateh" ( Army of Conquest ) shoots an anti tank missile ( I think it's a Russian Kornet ) on A Hezbollah tank on the Qalamoun mountains bordering Lebanon with Syria. Jaish Al Fateh is a roof rebel group including several groups. Most known are the Al Qaeda branch in Syria named "Jabhat Al Nusra Asham" ( Aid Front of Greater Syria ) and "Ahrar Asham" ( Liberators of Greater Syria ).
In the movie you will see great skill by JN ( Jabhat Al Nusra) warriors aiming the missile directly to the soft spot of the tank. The kornet missile finds the old tank vulnerable to the penetrating ability of the Russian missile. The tank is at his spot as it should, the tank crew made no mistake. Yet, caution should be taken by viewing and hearing the exit of the missile. The crew failed to do that. One mistake and you're gone, that's the roughness of war.
