Hey guys. Just joined. Only own a couple firearms at the moment but hope to expand my arsenal of the next few years.

My next purchase will be a new duck hunting gun.

After that I'd like to get my first assault rifle. This is where I need help. It will pretty much be a just for fun gun but of course also for personal/home defense. I assume the easiest thing to get into would be some type of AR platform but I'd kinda like to stay away from that just because everyone I know has one.
Any suggestions for a newb to the rifle arena?

Welcome. I'd suggest a AR even though everyone has them. There's a reason for that. They perform pretty well and there's many options out there. It's like Legos for men lol. If you're still not feeling them maybe try something like an AK. There's a vendor on here (BrotherInArms) that does some amazing work on them

I'm not totally against it. I'd just like to get a feel for what all is out there and I know squat about rifles. Thanks for the input.

and thanks for all the welcomes.

Also anybody know of a good place for LC9 accessories?

How about a ruger 10/22? Tons of options out there for them and ammo is really cheap. I just ordered one and should have it in my possession in a few days

Yeah they do seem to be cool guns from what I've seen. A guy I work with is a Ruger fanatic. He has a couple of them that he loves but he's a bit biased lol. Thanks for the suggestion!

thanks guys! this site is killing me. why do all my hobbies/interests have to be so expensive lol

I know, right??

What kind of duck gun are you looking at? I bought a Stoeger 2000 about 6 years ago for a duck gun. It has been a fantastic gun. They are making a new 3 1/2" one if you want the extra punishment :drool2:

Yeah I've looked at the stoegers a couple times. Seems like a great gun for the price. Ill probably stick with a pump for now though. Been looking at the browning bps and the Remington 887 but I've seen a lot of problems with it in the Internet but a buddy has one and loves it.
