Confiscate Weapons - Curiosity Question

For all you law enforcement/military/ex military folks out there. Hypothetical question.

If you were still active duty here in the states. How would you react to an order to confiscate weapons from civilians (legally owned firearms)? Would you follow orders? Refer command to the second amendment? Never having been in the military/law enforcement I don't know what protocol is. Just curious how you would handle the situation.

I remember seeing a video where a National Guard told an officer that if he were told to do so he would refuse.

There is also and organization called Oathkeepers. They try to remind law enforcement/military of their duty to protect and uphold the constitution.

To me it would depend on the situation and the person/s I was orders to confiscate from. If it was from someone that shouldn't have a firearm then yes. For all the others would be...
Weapons.... What weapons....

Yes, I forgot to clarify that. I am talking legally owned firearms. Not thug owned firearms. Went back and fixed it.

Ditto.

If I was ordered to go against the 2nd amendment and confiscate guns from law abiding citizens, I'd tell them to go to hell.

In a Katrina situation, where you have these assholes shooting at us and even our helicopters... that's a different story.

If I was still in the military and was told to disarm the legal/lawful public my answer would have to be no as well.... We are sworn to uphold the constitution if I remember right and that is in violation of it. Besides..... I dont want to get shot for following a stupid order. or court marshalled for not.

This is what I said:

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

So I will honor the constitution and the gun they want to take, better be in the hand of the enemy

That is if they haven't convinced/brain washed some of the soldiers into thinking the American people are the enemy. There will always be those that will follow their conscience and do the right thing. And there will always be those that will follow what they are told to do without question.

Again, this was a hypothetical question and lets hope it stays that way.
