Here in NC, We have a duty to inform whenever a police/sheriff approaches you in an official capacity. It's only happened a couple times but when going through a license check I have my license and CHP out. When I hand it to the officer I say "Yes I am carrying". So far it's been non eventful. I think the cops actually like how many CHP carriers there are around here.

If you are pulled for speeding then the officer can run your numbers and find out if you're a CHP. But pulling up to a traffic stop they'll never know unless you tell them. And like I said, We have a duty to inform as a condition of our CHP.
