Glock mags

Friend had 4 or 5 4o cal mags he wanted to throw away. I suggested cleaning them first , low and behold they were 100% at the range after cleaning. Clean and oil mags when doing full cleaning of gun.

Other than the spring there isn't much to a mag that would wear out. The spring could become weak or break over time but that's about it. Good score.

My guess is these mags had to be 8 years old and never cleaned.Light cleaning and they ran perfect.

Lots of shooters overlook magazine maintenance. It's something that is so rarely needed that it is easy to forget....but it does need to be done never-the-less.

Nice reminder, kwo51:)

Mine get cleaned after each use. Overkill for sure but knock on wood I have 0 mag related issues. The Glock followers can wear with high use. They still feed fine but they won't lock the slide open after the last round. The followers are cheap and easy to replace. I have yet to replace a single Glock mag spring. For lube go easy. I have a silicone impregnated towel I wipe the parts with and that's it. You do not want oil inside the mag.
