Default Smart gun can be hacked

With all the talk about hacking the internet, corporations and vehicles..now the Smart gun can be too. Looks like with all of this technology there are certain drawbacks then need to addressed.

ANYTHING with a computer can be hacked.
I don't know why people are so surprised when it happens.

Well if the system didn't use a wifi signal to communicate that would definitely increase the security of the system, but I don't know why you would use a computerized system that close to a danger zone anyway. Sure they are nice, but like these guys found out, security procedures are damn near tripled if you want that system to be secure.

I saw a piece about the rifle and its technology some time ago on a german youtube-channel, and wondered why a rifle needs WLan in the first place.
Would someone mind to explain?

So the gun can report that it has been shot and it's location etc. Maybe even with a selfie of the person who shot it.

The government might let you have a gun, but it's going to tattle tale on you every chance it gets.
