    Snakes

I'm around snakes all the time in the oil field. They will go about their own business if left alone. I had a 2 ft diamondback laying right at a lease gate yesterday,I just moved him with a stick, and it crawled off into the grass. Snakes serve a great purpose keeping rodent numbers in check,and...

    Scope recommendations

I've never been a fan of Bushnell product's,they have bad customer service if you ever have problems with them. I know this from experience. They also had a few problems with the 6500 series from what I've read. For the $600-700 price range,I'd suggest these two scopes. Weaver 3-15x50 Tactical...

Remington 700 Unexected Dishcharges to Common

Almost any weapon with an adjustable trigger can become "Dangerous" when adjusted too lite by someone that doesn't understand how the trigger components work together. Unless you are very familiar with working on triggers, you should leave it to a gunsmith to adjust. Most of the problems that...

    Anybody Do Any Reloading?

Depending on what your looking for, there are a few that have bullets and powder. Midway still has some bullets-I just ordered some more 6.5mm Bergers. Powder Valley has a few types of powder in stock-I just ordered 26 lbs of powder today, but they are out of most types that I use a lot. Primers...

    Building my 6.5 Creedmoor

If everything checks out with the headspace, your done with the barreled/action. I took the scope/rings off my 10FCP 308,and the took that barreled action out of the Choate tactical stock. Then I installed the 6.5 Creedmoor barreled action into the stock, and torque the action screws down. Next,I...

    Building my 6.5 Creedmoor

Now you can tighten the barrel nut,I get it tight by hand with the wrench, and then use a rubber mallet, and hit the wrench a couple times. You don't have to get it gorilla tight, just tight! After the barrel nut is tight, check your headspace again. Open and close the bolt with the Go gauge again...

    Building my 6.5 Creedmoor

The new centerfeed actions are a little different than the older staggered feed actions. I needed to modify the cap of my action wrench. It's pretty simple, you just need a round file, and a flat file to smooth the round cut off with. Make a small notch in the cap where the detent pin of the...

    Building my 6.5 Creedmoor

For those of you that don't know how easy it is to build a Custom rifle off the Savage 10/110 platform,I'll give you an idea of how it's done. I've built several rifles off of savage actions, and they are great shooting rifles. You can do it cheap,or go crazy on whatever you decide. If you buy a...

    Building my 6.5 Creedmoor

I'm finally going to start building my 6.5 Creedmoor. I've had the barrel for several months, but couldn't decide whether to buy a used rifle for a donor action or just buy a new action. I bought a new Savage stainless Varmint action with the 1.5 lb target Accu-trigger from Northland Shooters...

    Vortex Viper PST

That will entirely depend on the adjustment range of a given scope, and the ballistics of the caliber/round being shot. Most hunting style or cheaper scopes don't have anywhere near the adjustment range to shoot past 500-600 yards. Most have around 40-50 inches of adjustment Total. If you have...

    Price check= M1A

If someone really wants it,they'll pay whatever it cost in the crazy market of today. I've been tossing around the idea of selling my 458 SOCOM and all the reloading supplies I have for for about the same price. But then,I don't have much trouble sleeping after being a Capitalist in markets...

    Magpul Pmags

It always amazes me that people wait until something happens before they try to stock up on guns/ammo/accessories/etc.,and then they have a cow when the prices go through the roof and none can be found on shelves anywhere. What are you guy's going to do if something bad happens in this world? Be...

    Coyote hunting tips

An electronic or other type of varmint call works very well calling in yote's. But you have to learn what calls to use,and the length of time you use each call technique. We use electronic calls during the day and night for them. Decoys also work very well. I prefer to use the electric motion...

    m1903 springfeild

You will have to get the receiver drilled & tapped for a scope base. Find a good local gunsmith to do this for you. He should also be able to supply you with the correct base and ring set up. Nice 1903! My first deer rifle was a 1903 that my grandfather had sporterized by Paul Jaeger in the 1950's.
