    My Future AR-15

RRA make some solid rifles. Probably the second most popular AR among LEO's, with Colt leading the way. Makes me wonder why he's getting rid of it, though. Just because I'm buying a new gun doesn't mean I'm getting rid of an old one....lol. I've got a Rock River complete lower coming soon...

    1911's... Let's see em...

I concur. IMO Sig makes the nicest out of the box sub-$1000 1911's on the market. Sent by my communicator

I'd also check the Para Ordnance guns. They've been in the 1911 biz for a long time and they start relatively cheap. Sent by my communicator

    1911's... Let's see em...

Good pistol for the price. Personally I'd pay $150 or so more and get a Sig 1911. I'm a bit biased now, though, with one already. I have had zero issues and it's both tight and smooth. I'm honestly blown away with the fit and finish of my pistol, which was less than both of my Kimbers and it...

AR15 or Shotgun for Home Defense

Given the two choices only, shotgun. In reality, I have all three in the bedroom with me at night....the third being a Sig 1911 .45, which is my go-to gun in the house when things go bump in the night.

    Kimber Ultra Carry II

Yeah, I'm sure the smaller grips contribute. Not being too critical, though.... It's a very accurate little gun and. 45 is a big round. Sent by my communicator

    Lets See Some Collections

Not showing my collection, but here's the latest: Remington 700 SPS .300 WinMag. Worlds best deal on a hunting rifle from a penny auction. Got it for $2.22. Added a scope and sling and my wife has a pretty sweet Christmas present.

New to the forum and looking for a .300 WSM

Fair enough. I don't have the dough to be throwing down on a $1000 or more scope, so it's really not even an option for me. That said, I recently checked out a Trijicon Accupoint scope, and it's probably the nicest American-made glass I've seen. Still close to $1000, though. Swarovski's are...

What model of AR-15 do you have/want?

Colt 6920MP-B. Looked around a lot, and I got it for just above $1000, which was a deal at the time. Solid performer, haven't had any problems, but like anyone, I'm ready to build my own. Just need the money to piece it together. Have the parts list all ready, though. :)

    Red Dot and Battle sights

Agreed. Personally, I'd choose Aimpoint over Eotech only because of battery life. I think both are fine quality and you'll see both in use in the military and police forces around the world, but the Aimpoints can last a couple of years of being "on" constantly. Eotechs die much, much faster.

plz help a newb gun owner

A pattern is developing here where TheFuzz beats me to the punch and I say, "yeah, what he said." Sooo.... Yeah, what he said. I also agree that a smaller revolver might be a good option, especially for her. A lot of women have difficulty with slides on auto pistols; revolvers eliminate...

    Reciprocity Map

I had a permit for a while, but I'm in an open-carry state so it's kind of moot here. You can carry openly or concealed pretty much anywhere but government offices and schools and a few other exceptions. The only real benefit IS reciprocity.

    AR 15 or something else?

I wasn't being critical, I was just curious if there was a secondary purpose for the rifle. That could alter the responses as well. My biggest issue with that platform for hunting is there are too many moving parts to foul up or have issues with, but that doesn't mean that you can't use them...

    AR 15 or something else?

I'll agree with most: .223 will take deer down, but it's pushing the limits on small. Way too small for elk. An AR10 in .308 would certainly work, but I'm curious why you'd want an assault platform for hunting. There is no advantage and generally they are somewhat less accurate than a...

New to the forum and looking for a .300 WSM

I would personally never pay a Christenson price for a hunting rifle, but if you have the money they are very nice. I already have a hard time buying a decent scope, which are usually more than the rifle these days. I'm probably just as happy with my $300 Nikon Buckmaster scope as I would be...

    1911 Original model

I had a .45 rifle for a while. Pretty fun lever-actions. It's not hard to find the ammo for them, but I also don't think the 1911 was ever chambered in this round. It is a substantially larger round and just wouldn't work in a pistol grip due to its length I don't think.
