The SIG 516 kicks ass!
it's one of my favorite AR's out right now.
One of the German engineers that designed the HK416 was reportedly involved in the SIG 516 design and it shows.

I used to have a SIG 556 which was waaay too crude for my taste and I sold it at a loss within a week of buying it.

And I think the SIG 516 doesn't get the respect it deserve,s due to its ugly cousin the 556 which many confuse it with.
I own a SIG 516 and its one of my favorite AR;s that's reserved for SHTF duty ;)

I used to own a sig 556 also. Needed a trigger job in a bad way. Other than that I was happy and regret selling it to a friend

I had the SIG 556 Classic" and just couldnt get over how bad the hand-guards were, they moved and sqeeked every time I picked up the gun.
And replaced those hand guards w/ the SIG quadrail would ahve been over 200 Bucks.
So I just sold it.

Did you have the "SWAT"? I think if i had gotten the quad rails one I might not have sold it.

Yeah I had the SWAT version with a magpul AFG on it. The other thing that drive me nuts was the rear sight always rattled loose. I was going to put a little blue loctite on the bolt but sold it before I got around to it

The rear sight seemd alittle loose ot me also but not a problem ( yet) I never fired the gun just sold it .. I was very upset at SIG because i LOVED the features and design juts not the execution. On the sig 516 on the other hand every thing feels high end.

My Daniel Defense DI gun has NOTHING on the SIG 516 in quality feel, tightness + accuracy

I liked the style of the 556 mostly. Sometimes I like to be a little different. It kind of reminded of of a mp5's big brother. The right side only charging handle was awkward and took a little getting used to. I don't like to remove my right hand from the pistol grip so I just reached over the top with my left. I will say the extractor was awesome on it. It would throw brass 30-40 feet. I'd always stand on any of my friend's left sides when we'd shoot so I could shower them with brass :evillol:

I know what you mean. That's what I loved about the 556 and made me buy it. a little different but hard core..

Guy at the range a few months ago had one and said he loved it. Told me all the sigs were supposedly 40k round guns before anything needed to be replaced. If so that's really impressive.

Ranger,

I agree the 556 is a very cool looking gun.
knowing its based on the Swiss Armys issue rifles doesnt hurt one bit either.
