Half the nation's worst shootings ever have occurred since 2007

Yes, I may rant a bit over the next few week...... sorry

Now as you read through the list..... How many were in Gun Free Zones. The Bradey Bunch and the wacko's of the world have got together and set up shooting galleries. The Bradey Bunch has ensured that the deranged people of the world are free from facing a person that finds its important to defend their life and those around them. When is the Bradey Bunch and their followers of the liberal media going to learn that there are 130 million (plus) people with the ability to prevent this from happening just by remaining anonymous and quietly carrying concealed.

Half the nation's worst shootings ever have occurred since 2007

With at least 27 people confirmed dead in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, the tragedy has taken the second-most lives of any such incident in American history, and stands as one of the most horrific school shootings around the world. Thirty-two people were killed by student Seung-Hui Cho at Virginia Tech University in 2007 before he turned his gun on himself in the deadliest shooting on U.S. soil. In 2004, pro-Chechen rebels in Russia took more than 1,200 schoolchildren and adults hostage in Beslan, and at least 386 eventually died in gunfire between the rebels and security forces. In all, half of the nation's deadliest shootings have occurred in the last five years. [Source]

1. April 16, 2007: Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg; 32 dead + shooter

2. Oct. 16, 1991: Luby's Cafeteria, in Killeen, Tex.; 23 dead + shooter

3. July 18, 1984: McDonald's restaurant in San Ysidro, Calif.; 21 dead + shooter

4. Aug. 1, 1966: University of Texas at Austin; 16 dead + shooter

5. Aug. 20, 1986: Post office in Edmond, Okla.; 14 dead + shooter

6. April 20, 1999: Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.; 13 dead + 2 shooters

8. Nov. 5, 2009: Soldier Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood, Texas; 13 dead

Don't be sorry. Rant away!
I feel the same way.
I have several friends who are teachers and all but one of them are FOR allowing teachers to conceal carry in the school. Personally, I think it should be mandatory.

All of the anti-gun nuts are going to come out of the woodwork again and start saying that we need registration, or we need to ban all guns. Well, as the saying goes, "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will own guns." I guess I will be an outlaw, because they are not getting mine from me...

I have a bad feeling that this will be a test case of are rights.

As do I. Not that I know how it will play out, but I will say I spend about $1,300 on guns I've been putting off today. Call me paranoid

Always amazes me how they overlook the shootings that have been stopped by someone with a gun.

Appalachian school of law & Pearl Mississippi are two that come to mind.

Ordered some more Pmags today.

Jeff,
First off, I would like to offer my condolences to all the families and friends involved with this tragedy.
Am I for tougher gun laws? Yes! Registering Guns with mandatory training? Don't have a issue with that.
But what this country needs is a tougher legal and penal system.
I'd hate to be in a crowded theatre and have twenty people start shooting at each other because each one thinks the other is the bad guy.
I see and understand what you are saying about gun free zones, but i don't think arming every teacher and janitor in the nation will solve anything.
All in all, there's no easy solution whether you think guns should be abolished or they are your God given right to do with as you please. Unfortunately, sick and deranged people are getting access to weapons and killing innocent people!

Getting rid of guns will do NOTHING. Bath School Disaster anyone? That one was a bomb in the school that killed 39. How about the ones that are happening over in countries that restrict guns? Machete, knife or kitchen cleaver. One guy set a kindergarten class on fire with gasoline. Restricting guns will make things worse, not better.

i nearly had puke mouth when the triage tarps stayed empty (they are setup for a reason), then had a prayerful weeping spell.

Condolences to those affected by this tragedy.

But I too fear that this may be the straw that breaks the camels back.

I'll be shocked if they don't use this push more gun control or worse.

I am not even sure how to comprehend how someone could do that. I feel for everyone involved.

Like many of you I think this will be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back. I don't know the story behind how the shooter got the guns or much of the back story but it cannot help the pro 2nd amendment group at all.

Edit: SilvrSRT10 - said the same thing, teach me to read before posting.

Don't forget, those deranged people.... don't always use a gun. They use knives, swords, bow and arrows and even their fists. They use cars, bathtubs, gasoline and medication.. to include illegal drugs. We have a real choice and the choice is to take our persuit of life , liberty and happiness as something we protect, or give control of that to someone thats only minutes away. I know what my choice is and I pray everyday.... that I'm not tested. I love my family, they mean everything to me and I'm not sure I would enjoy life without them.

I face a real challenge when out with my wife, if shots rang out, she would be running towards it, she's a Nurse and she knows she can help. I can run the other direction or try and keep up, she can move.

My daughter works for the Correctional System, don't count on laws to protect you, there are only so many beds and well...... the murderers may have a bed for the night, but that guy that just beat the hell out of his girl friend is out on $200 bond and he's got only one thing on his mind..... teaching that bitch a lesson.

When you think of 20 people all shoting at each other at the same time.... how does that work. I can't remember ever reading about that happening. I do remember reading story after story about a single citizen making a difference

This post sat on my screen for a good 20 minutes, not sure if I really wanted to post it. Fear of something that has never happened is real, making it real simply because we fear, is something else and thats what the gun haters do, make something real out of a perception of what could happen, if they can think it, therefore it is real...

The Brady Bunch, Bloomberg and the Liberal media want everyone to believe that all gun owners are just like these people who kill, are we? The second we give in to anything, we answer yes and the bad guys win, the liberals win, the Bradey's win, Bloomberg wins, Bob Costas wins......

The part you all seem to have missed is that none of those school shootings occurred in Israel were they do have armed teachers. This school had a federal prison close and no school officer!!!!!! This is a tragedy and gun regulations would have no barring on this kid getting back at his mother. Double stack must be LEO! He needs to go to Oath keepers.

Gun Carrying isn't for everyone. Some don't have the mental capacity to take a life. Some don't have the fast critical thinking skills, some don't have the dexterity and coordination and some are just fearful of firearms period. But, you can't tell me if 10% of a school's staff was tactically trained, I'm not talking a hunter safety course, or conceal carry course, I mean tactically trained like police and swat officers are trained, that it would not benefit these schools. It may not prevent the tragedies all together, but I'd guess the body counts would at least be cut to 2 or 3 instead of in the teens and twenties.

Sure had plenty of LEO's after the fact. Hind sight is 20/20 . Bloomberg could have stopped it.

Jeff,
Appreciate the reply without getting ugly. I'm not saying/implying that I don't want you or others to be able to carry to protect your families. I also agree with you that when some mentally ill person wants to invoke harm upon others he will use whatever is at his disposal. What bothers me is the knee-jerk paranoid reaction by people when these types of tragedies occur. We can all argue and get nothing done or we can at least try and compromise and come up with a solution.
By tougher gun laws/legal/penal systems, my thoughts are....making it very clear that gun violations will have strict consequences. We also need to stop coddling our prison population. You broke the law, you have no rights and you will work to pay for your room, board and supervision!

The question that is always asked is "Why did this youth do this?"
Lack of family values/parenting? Lack of counseling/support in schools?

BTW, think of my movie theatre scenario as a "friendly fire" incident. "Honest officer, I heard shots and I fired at the guy with the gun!" Improbable, but possible with some people.

Sure so is getting run over by a truck. 2 cops killed in my town both by other cops. Well trained, maybe they should not be armed like England's. Always make sure of your target and the back stop. Evil has no bounds and it is going to get worse before it gets better.

Understand and I love a discussion.....

But why more gun laws

There are currently laws for everything this kid did and consequences for doing them. The only mushy area is the judge and what he does, jury's and what they beleive and lawyers and how they twist.

I agree, why take a knee jerk reaction and say all gun owners need to "insert joke here" be surgically inplanted with a GPS device. The only people that will affect is the honest gun owner. The one that wants to be legal.

The bad guy, not a chance, they will never do it and why would they

The sad truth is, all the gun laws in the world would not prevent a derranged person from doing bad things.

I could probably list item after item where a trained person with a weapon did it wrong. List item after item where a person saved their own life and those of loved ones by using a weapon. The part that worries me, is the liberal left won't look. They will never see how the use of a weapon save someone. They will look past it and see the bad.

This happened in Aurora CO. I wonder how many people saw it, heard about it and discussed it...

http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/cr...-shootings-one-widely-known-the-other-ignored

read the article, how many more would have been shot that day if it wasn't for but one....

My beliefs are clear on how I feel and understand. I know that not everything can be prevented. That drunk driver that takes out a school bus. A pilot that doesn't do his job at 100 percent. A careless speeder in rush hour traffic, the parent that leaves there 1 year old in the tub to answer the phone. Not everything can be prevented and all the laws in the world will not prevent bad things from happening. The 4 examples above should never happen... yet, they do

Jeff,
I'm prolly as disgusted with the liberals as much as you, but what can we do to educate them? Unfortunately neither side wishes to budge a inch. My bleeding heart liberal friends on facebook(keep your friends close and enemies closer;-)) want to abolish handguns and overtax the flintlocks they will allow us to own after completing a month long psych evaluation!
All I can do is explain in a passive manner my reasoning's behind my statements and follow through with their rebuttals.
Yes we have laws, but they are not working and the legal system needs to be revamped in a bad way. My main goal would be to make the prison population work for the public...not the opposite!
It's a uphill battle, but one that needs to be fought in a intelligent non-demeaning nature. That is hard to do when a former co-worker was shot and killed in a fit of road rage here in Seattle not too many months ago by a person who was supposedly a "responsible" owner.
