i took my oldest daughter to the local range last night. it has become a monday night thing for us since its my only day off and i am home early enough to get out there before it closes. here is her target after about 300 rounds at roughly 20 yards with iron sights.

she was shooting both the cz and the ruger. she has more fun with the ruger because of the semi auto, but that cz is spot on.

She did good !!! How old is she ninja?

I wish my son, who has been shooting he was 6, would take more interest in shooting for targets. He's getting better about it now that he's 16, but he's more into shooting the AK-47 and spraying bullets, or blowing shit into a million pieces with the shotgun.

she will be 11 next week. she started shooting when she was 8 with an old henry lever action at my sister and brother in laws house. i think once we get her scope dialed in she will be happier. her biggest complaint is that she cant see the target very well. so what can you do? its your little girl, you spoil her........

what do you guys think about the bushnell banner series scopes? i was taking my buddies advice on them since he knows more about them. something decent but not overly expensive

If she's asking for a scope, and concerned about accuracy, I'd say that's a good thing. To keep her involved and interested, I think a scope would be a good investment.

As far as a $65 Scope, I don't want to seem like a cheap bastard, but I got like a $30-$35 scope on my 10/22, and me and my son both can pop a squirrels eyeball out at 50 yards or the B on a Budweiser can. At 100 yards we can still hit the can, maybe not the B, but we can hit it every time. I just don't see the need to spend big money on a .22 scope since they don't have a strong recoil to knock them out of the adjustment. I'm fairly certain it's a Cheap Walmart Simmons scope I bought many years ago. I don't see it now, look like it went up $10 to like $35 or $39 but I got my son one of the $26 Barska Scopes with .97 cent delivery to the house from Wally World, and I"m pretty impressed with it so far. We have not dialed it in to 100 yards yet since we haven't had .22 ammo when we went shooting, but i have a feeling it's a good scope too. Just so long as it's something with a 1in tube and not one of those BB, Air Soft .22 scopes, it should work good on a .22. Reason I go with 1in scope tube, is I use See Thru Scope Rings on the .22's. Either Weaver or Leupolds. Set the Irons for 50yards, and the Scope for 100 yards is the norm for us and it works well.

even at 20 yards the red is super tiny looking through the iron sights. and thats the biggest target they have. its also impossible to tell where you hit so we have to bring the target back to see where our bullet passed and attempt to make adjustments. kinda defeats the purpose of a semi auto.

here is the scope i bought, well two of them. one for each gun. and this is where i got them from. 2 days ago when i bought them they were $98 now they are $108. what do you think?

Maybe you need that good of a scope for indoors and poor lighting.

A tip as far as sighting it in, take some binoculars for a spotter to watch the target as your shooting. It will save a ton of time in bringing the target back everytime, and the spotter can be more accurate in telling you how far off you are. Also take some Avery Sticky Dots to put over previous holes. This way you can bring the target in every 4 or 5 shots for a close up review. Put the dots on and send it back out.

scopes came in today. perfect timing. it was my daughters birthday today. she is now 11. i was at work and my wife is away on a business trip so my kids are staying at my neighbors house after school. i sent my daughter a message to check to see if a package arrived today so she used the keypad on my truck to open the door so she could open the garage door because it was only open about a foot. sure enough she said there was a box in there. i got home and told her that it was her birthday present. she gave me a look of confusion. i didnt mention her birthday all day up until now. so i told her to open it. we were looking at scopes recently but i gave the hint that we would have to get one later down the road. she doesnt know anything about the brands of scopes, so she didnt know what it was until she actually opened the box and took it out. she had the biggest smile because after she saw it, she realized what it was. we spent the last 2 hours mounting it, looking through it, adjusting it, and playing with all the focus adjustments on it. she cant wait to get back out to the range to try them out. i must say, im impressed with this scope so far. im really digging it. i too cant wait until we can get back to the range to try them out.

Smart Girl !!! She has good taste !!! And handles it well too. :waytgo:

I'd be a proud daddy. I never forced guns on my kids. They'd watch me and my bro shoot. I'd occasionally ask if they wanted to shoot just so they'd know it's OK to shoot as long as it was with me, and they wouldn't think if they wanted to shoot, that I'd say NO, and them end up doing it behind my back. My daughter would shoot the 10/22 occasionally. but never really did get into it much. Maybe partly because, we had a rule, if you're going to shoot, you must know how to load your own magazine, load the gun, clear a jam and remove the magazine, and clear the gun when done. I don't think she like loading the magazine. She's now 24 and much more into guns and going to range. She how has a 12ga and a Glock23 with a CCW that she practices with.

Awesome :D She is a lucky kid.

Btw, if you think that CZ is accurate now, wait until you feed it some quality subs or match ammo. My 452 really likes the Winchester subsonic 40 grain truncated cone hollow points. It shoots like match ammo but cheaper.
