FNAR 7.62x51 (.308). Under MOA right out of the box with a good shooter. Millett TRS-1 Optics.
Mean old nasty gun. The libs would wet themselves upon seeing this.

I'm trying to figure out what cost more, the Rifle or the Optics???

The rifle. Paid $1200 for it and $300 for the scope. Extremely nice system for under $1600. I don't think I did too bad. People are paying a whole lot more for just an AR these days.

A lot of folks say put as much $$$ into glass as you do the gun. I'm just not there yet. Specially when the reviews rank this scope with those costing three times as much.

I agree. I'm not got there yet either. I've done very well with my cheap optics. However, I do know it makes a difference. You do get what you pay for, and if you don't think a scope a can make a difference you'd be wrong. Clarity, less strain on the eye, and holding accuracy from repeated recoil, there is a difference. I've a cheap Barska $25 scope on one of my Ruger 10/22's, that thing is fantastic for $25. Would I suggest it for a .270 or 30.06, hell no.

I've got a middle of the road scope for my .300 Win Mag, and a cheaper but OK scope on my 30.06. I'd like someday to put the middle of the road scope on the 30.06 and get a real nice long range scope for my .300 Win Mag. Just can't seem to justify it though. As expensive as .300 Win Mag ammo is now days, it would probably cost me $40 in ammo to get it sighted in at 300 yards. I rarely have a purpose to use that one, so I'd prefer just to set it up at 300 yards. The 30.06 I just keep at 100 yards scope and 50 yards iron. I'd imagine I could set the 30.06 to 200 yards with the scope off the Win Mag.

Very nice. I'm with ya on optics. I'm not good enough to justify spending tons on good optics. That's part of my reason for building a 10/22. Cheap to practice the fundamentals with
