SOB! Pinned Flash Hider

Was working on my AR this evening. Wanted to take the flash hider off. I thought they were just put on super tight with a crush washer. Mine was pinned. There was absolutely no way to tell that the original was pinned. Apparently it was pinned cleaned up and then coated. Destroyed the original flash hider and kinda/sorta messed up the threads.

Went to the tap and die set. SOB! No 1/2-28. Off to Ebay to find a 1/2-28 die so I can straighten out my threads. Then off to Amazon to find a new flash hider (wanted something different anyhow). So back into the safe the gun goes until the stuff gets here to straighten out my mess. SOB!

Was this a 16" or longer barrel? If so, I don't know why they would pin it. If it was a 14.5" or 14.7", it is to be expected per big brother.
