Ok folks who can spot what he is “teaching” wrong?
(Trainers and expereinced .mils please dont post until a couple of students have, I know you know this)

Just watch the vid, please do NOT read the comment section on youtube.

This is an example of some of the slick, well presented but still wrong stuff thats out there on youtube.

Using the T-handle to work the bolt instead of just hitting the bolt release seems like a wasted motion.

Thats one of the smaller items that is not best practices.
but I am looking for something more fundamental.

Think about what he purports to be demonstrating...

Tactical or speed reload. Play or combat. Tried to cover both in one video was hard but he did well and reverted to his LEO training.

The issue was not that the Emergency Reload he was trying to show had some questionable features (it did) but its that he was showing an "Emergency reload" when he was Teaching a "tactical Reload".

They are almost opposite actions.:

Emergency reload: You run dry in the middle of actually shooting at people your bolt locks to the rear and you change mag the fastest possible way .

There are a couple other small nits one could pick like the failure to use the bolt release which is best practices w/ a Emergency reload and another one but they are not as fundamental as covering the opposite of what you set out to do.

Tactical Reload Process: You are done shooting and/or there is a lull no one is shooting at you and you are not shooting at anyone.. but you know your mag is only partially full and you want to prepare for renewed firefight so you change your mag

(Preferably in some kind of cover or concealment if possible: - take your support hand to your rig and grab a mag, - bring the hand with the mag up to the partial mag on the rifle - release and grab the partial with the hand thats also holding the fresh mag - insert the full one while keeping your shooting hand on the pistol grip - bring the partial back to the rig and put it in a pouch and close pouch - thats it..if you are not alone and have a buddy covering you, announce "Back in!" or whatever your SOP says, when complete.)
